Influences: At the moment my chief inpiration are the writings of J.R.R.Tolkien, which I discovered and was immediately captivated by about 11 years ago. Linked to that are other sources of inspiration, such as mythology, history (especially the early Middle-Ages in Europe), and nature. Artists I admire and whose artwork inspires me are (in no particular order): Jan Vermeer, Edward Hopper, the Pre-Raphaelites, Art Nouveau-artists like Alphonse Mucha, British book-illustrators from the "Golden Age" of illustration like Arthur Rackham, contemporary illustrators like Alan Lee and many more. Also I am very interested in cinema and movie-making, and here in particular in animation and cinematography.
Style: I like to work in watercolour because I like the unpredictability of the medium, and the fact that it's quick. Moreover I consider it a very suitable medium for bookillustrations: one can suggest rather than dictate how a scene or character should look like, and thus leave room for the reader's imagination.
